An absolutely beautiful castle mounted atop a huge hill in Edinburgh, it is probably the most distinctive landmark in the city. The castle itself is very well preserved, and the tour is a must for anyone in Edinburgh. Entry is actually quite expensive, but it's definitely worth it for the amount of history you're flooded with, and the tour guide I had was really lovely. Word of advice: book and book early. It is completely nuts in tourist season. Another plus is you'll get a great workout with... Read more...

This is a must do tour if you are in Edinburgh for a visit, it is a worth while tour and well worth the reasonable entrance fee. The castle is situated on a hill over loooking the city and it is a lovely place to take photos from . the castle is a beautiful place to take photos off and to take photos from here over the rest of the city. The bus tour stops at the castle i also recommend taking it.... Read more...

If you go to edinburgh you have to go to the Edinburgh Castle and the only way to do so is walk and climb the Hill. The setting is Spectular and that's just looking up, the views from the top are spectular too. Make sure you leave yourself at least vtwo hours because there is so much to see apart from the Crown Jewels, because with 15 minutes to go to close everything starts closing including the toilets and if you need to go they just point outside and act like they don't understand you.... Wonderful experience here-the view over the city is as spectacular as the majestic sight of the Castle from just about anywhere in the immediate city.So much to seehere -the museum with the Crown jewels and historical and military artefacts and medals; the chapel with its sombre war memorials . Great ceremony and pageant too, with the changing of the guard and a strong military presence (it is a military base too). The outdoor cafe is pretty good, with a wide selection of hot and cold food and... Read more...

When in Edinburgh, a trip to the Castle is an absolute must. The castle is up on a great height, and both the views from it and its surroundings are spectacular. You can see the whole city from up here, and its just beautiful. As everyone else has commented, entry is a bit on the expensive side, but its not everyday you get the chance to come see something so unique. Get headphones for the inside if you're in the money, but really you can manage just fine wandering around inside without using... Read more...
