underground

We find the London underground so easy to use and convenient for getting around London. We use it for getting to and from the Airport and around London in general. We got talking to one of the staff there who suggested that we buy the Oyster travel card and then we don't have to worry about having to hand in cash every time we wanted to travel on all public transport instead of buying tickets every time and the card gives you unlimited travel. The underground system is easy to use once you get... Read more...

Great

The first time I was on the London underground I thought it was fantastic. Service was excellent and you could watch and see all the well known names that you only heard of and getting to see. It is always very busy and crowded at rush house and it takes a lot of the fun when on holidays and travelling for fun. Thought some of the ticket staff were a little rude and one particular lady I thought was asleep and several people passed her without showing them their tickets. Love it though and... Read more...

I'm not a fan of underground transport, for some unknown reason it always makes me a bit nervous, but I figure everyone else manages it, so I can too. With this attitude to the fore of my mind, I always try to make use of the Underground while in London. Its extremely efficient and reliable, and I find it good value for money, I had a one day travel card which cost me £10 and I found for that fare I covered a lot of ground (pardon the pun) as opposed to paying for cabs and buses. I have... Read more...

The London Underground is truely a brilliant way of getting from A to B around London City. Who designed it did a wonderful job. It is so simple. The maps are free and are so easy to follow, you could not possibly go wrong. It is a little hot underground though and it does get very busy especially at rush hour. The prices are very cheap. Great service.... Read more...

I am giving the London Underground five stars because it is a fantastic mthod of getting around the city. As a tourist, you can pick up a timetable and route planner anywhere. It is so easy to use. It runs on time and it covers all the areas a tourist would hope to see. My only problem with it is, I am not too keen on being underground and you do miss the sightseeing if you use this to get round.... Read more...

London underground is a fantastic service. it literally covers anywhere you could possibly want to go within London and will take you to within minutes walking distance of your preferred destination. I lived in London for a year and I think in that whole time I only took a taxi about 2 times as the underground was so reliable. My only reason for the taxi's was when it was late at night and I was coming home alone. You can nearly guarantee that you will never wait more than 15 minutes on a... Read more...

Very good

Whenever I'm in London, this is obviously my preferred mode of transport as the distances to cover make it too expensive to take taxis and the bus system is more complicated if you're unfamiliar with it. There's no doubt that the network is huge and well-connected but it's very expensive. The best underground system I've ever used has to be the Madrid one, which is a match for the London system in terms of its size, but beats it hands down for price and frequency of trains.... Travelled on Tube for years visiting London- absolutely amazing network and never had much trouble in terms of delays. For Green Park , wheree our London Office is located , Picadilly Line from Heathrow takes about 50 mins, and apart from the District & Circle Line ,I never seem to wait more that 5 mins for a train.Offpeak Stg 7.50 day travel card is good value.Short single journeys at around Stg 5 are expensive compared tonetworks in eg Paris, but planning is the key - Oyster card... I don't know why but i always feel scared when using the London Underground. However i feel it is impossible to go to london and not use it as it is such a big city and the underground is the cheapest way of getting around. They do a good offer on three day pass which giveds unlimited access it is hard to find your way around as the maps are so complicated i always end up asking passers by for help!... Read more...

Always one within a few minutes!

When I was in London I mainly used the Bakerloo line and there was always a train within a few minutes, I was never left waiting long and the service is really great - you can very easily get to where you're going and make a fairly accurate estimation of what time you'll arrive at your destination. There's never usually a spare seat, so prepare to stand, but overall it's a great service.... Read more...

Much better than other countries underground!!

I have always been quite weary about using the underground as whenever I have used these services in the past, usually in France, there would be a lot of scary looking men and wild and unclean children trying to pick pocket. However, the London underground was much better. It was slightly dirty and smelly but thats to be expected with these sort of transport services. It is really quick and quite cheap. If travelling from heathrow to city centre (piccadilly etc) then I would recommend this.... Read more...

Much better service than anything on offer in Dublin. This system links up well with other lines and systems to make sure that you can get WHEREVER you're going, with minimal hassle. It's really easy and comprehensible for tourists, the service is reliable, and reasonably cheap. The central lines are always packed though, but what can you expect.... Read more...
