Selfridge's--a lovely place for food, but not for shoes

I was in London in 1979, 1980, and 2009. I loved the place in the first two years, because it was, in my opinion, the poor man's Harrod's, quite affordable. When I returned in 2009, however, I found that some of the items were priced higher than at Harrod's. It would have cost a minimum of $50 for tennis shoes...each shoe! What I DID love, however, was the restaurant floor. I had a lovely cold salt beef sandwich and, my very favorite, a scone with clotted cream. I will definitely be returning to Selfridge's for the same.
