An absolutely beautiful castle mounted atop a huge hill in Edinburgh, it is probably the most distinctive landmark in the city. The castle itself is very well preserved, and the tour is a must for anyone in Edinburgh. Entry is actually quite expensive, but it's definitely worth it for the amount of history you're flooded with, and the tour guide I had was really lovely. Word of advice: book and book early. It is completely nuts in tourist season. Another plus is you'll get a great workout with all the walking- there are LOTs of stairs. You'll definitely work up an appetite and they have a lovely bar and restaurant there to fill you up.

Roxanne would recommend. Roxanne would use again.
